Ao Nang Cliff Beach ResortIntroduction
Completed at the end of 2008 and built on a hillside above the town, this modernistic hotel is immaculate throughout. The large infinity-edge pool has a children’s section, which has safety railings around it. The lobby staff are even more attentive than is usual in this most service-minded of countries, even offering tired and hot travel journalists a cool drink and face-towel! All rooms have balconies containing comfortable chairs, and are well-appointed if less than lavishly decorated and furnished. This hotel is not recommended for small children, due to the steps everywhere and to the presence of sharp drops. The resort is conveniently located 600 metres from the beach and near to all amenities, and is a perfect spot for a couple to hide away, whilst being close enough to the centre of town and beaches. Click here for a map. The resort is half-finished. Construction on the last two blocks of the resort was started, then postponed until the tourism industry revives. The unfinished blocks are inconspicuous and don’t constitute a problem, except when the resort starts to finish the blocks off. Nobody likes staying in a resort with construction going on, so if you are thinking of staying here then contact us for an update on the construction plans at this resort.
RestaurantThe restaurant serves a decent breakfast, accompanied by sweet white bread that most Westerners will dislike. If booking through this site, guests will receive a complimentary loaf of fresh brown bread of arrival, from one of Ao Nang’s bakeries. The lunches served by the restaurant are satisfactory, but the dinners are over-priced compared to the many excellent restaurants in Ao Nang, see the restaurants/nightlife/amenities map for more info.
Accommodation‘Superior’ RoomsThese are located in the downstairs section of the 2-story accommodation block. Half have mountain views and half garden views. The gardens that can be viewed, however, are only 3 metres long and end in a concrete wall, so the garden-view ‘Superior’ rooms are not recommended. Most but not all of the ‘Superior’ mountain-view rooms have spectacular views of the karst ramparts that separate Ao Nang from Railay. Our company is based 300 metres away, so if you contact us, we’ll pop round and get you the room with the best view, at a hopefully unbeatable price.
‘Deluxe’ RoomsThese are located in the upstairs section of the accommodation block. Half have sea-views, and the other half have pool views. The connecting pool view rooms are not recommended for families whose parents want to keep an eye on their small children in the pool, while relaxing on their room’s balcony – you need to go up and down several flights of stairs to reach the pool, which is inconvenient for small children and not great for parents when they need to collect their children from the pool. Some of the sea-views are better than others. Our office is 300 metres away, so if you contact us, we’ll pop round and get you the room with the best view, at a hopefully unbeatable price.
